Dynamic DNS requirements
WAVEsec ClientsBase StationDownloads |
The base station must be set up by the conference organizers. Notebook
users need not concern themselves with these details.
DNS Server requirementsThe DNS server must be capable of accepting dynamic DNS updates to the reverse zone (in-addr.arpa) for the network being used for WAVESEC. The DNS server need not run on the same machine as the WAVESEC or DHCP server, but can if this is convenient. BIND 9.2.1 or better is recommended. DNS Server setupWhat follows is the setup for a configuration that was used for testing under user-mode-linux. All secrets should be replaced by real secrets, as described in the dynamic DNS update FAQ. Note that for WAVESEC to work, only the reverse zone updates are required. The forward zone updates are really a matter between the client notebooks and their personal DNS servers. Tip: Don't give out the whole range of IP addresses you have available. For example, if you have a class C, only let dhcpd give out 10-250. You can use the extras for testing or other resources.
